Wednesday, May 22, 7-9 pm
(Please note that there will be no regular meetings in July and August 2013. Other activities may be organized. Please check this page for updates.)
At the February NCMUG general meeting, Jon Jones and Grace Cheung-Schulman gave a presentation about free video resources on the Internet. As an illustration on how we can all become active creators instead of just being passive viewers, they posted a video of travel photos created by NCMUG's President, Lorene Romero - Amsterdam 2010 Revisited. If you are one of those photographers who have thousands of images idling in your computer hard drive, come and let Lorene show you how to put them together in a video and share them on YouTube! Here are Lorene's videos on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/user/loreneromero
Two months ago, we did an introduction to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4. It is only fair that we give equal attention to Apple's photo editing software Aperture. Billed as "Pro performance with iPhoto simplicity," Aperture is a professional photography application that lets you refine images, showcase your photography, and manage massive photo libraries. While it has many features that are comparable to Lightroom, Aperture has the additional advantage of being an integral part of the Apple operating environment. It shares the same library with iPhoto. You can open the photo library from either application and make adjustments to your photos. Use Aperture to make professional edits, then go back to iPhoto to create a calendar or cards. No need to export and import. Our member Lynn Prunty will give a step-by-step demonstration on Aperture. If you are already using iPhoto but want to take your image editing to the next level, come to this demo and see how easy it is to use.
Kevin Walters is a Sonoma County-based Wedding and Portrait Photographer and has been capturing professional images of people and emotion since 2006. Kevin got his start working as a photographer for a small-time local paper and moved quickly into the wedding and portrait scene. He has shot over 50 weddings during his career. Kevin enjoys the technical challenges of portrait shooting and uses creative lighting to overcome obstacles. When he is not shooting, Kevin also enjoys teaching. He has taught photography for the City of Santa Rosa, LandPaths, and has led outings for his lively Facebook camera group "Let's Talk Camera."
Kevin will talk about how to get better portraits with the gear you already have, and take your portraits to the next level without emptying your wallet.

This special interest group is geared for new to intermediate level users. It offers an alternative for people who are unable to attend our general monthly club meeting.
Are you tired of trying to remember multiple passwords? Are you worried that you have used the same password on several sites and that could compromise your security? Have we got an app for you!
This Saturday, 18 May 2013, the Intermediate SIG will present "An Introduction to 1Password."
1Password is a program that securely stores your passwords; can generate strong passwords for new or existing sites; and can provide access to your passwords from your desktop computer, your laptop computer, and mobile devices arch as iPhones and iPads.
Come and find out how you can get hold of your sanity…at least for your passwords.
The I-SIG will meet on 18 May 2013 at La Tercera Elementary School in Petaluma.
The meeting site is at 1600 Albin Way in Petaluma. Meetings start at 10 am and conclude about noon.

Jon Jones:
Many in the video production industry state that what the viewer hears is just as important (if not more so) than what the viewer sees. In this era of self-produced video populating websites and social media services, this axiom is more true than ever, but seemingly often forgotten during the production process.
The Video SIG will meet this coming Saturday, May 11th, to explore the topic of production audio, and focusing especially on audio dynamics, copyrighted content, and popular music resources, as well as tips on using audio to enhance or improve a video project for a better viewing (listening) experience.
Join us each month as we explore the world of Macintosh-based digital video editing. Topics include: basic video editing techniques, analog-to-digital conversion, authoring DVDs, 'how to' tips for Macintosh-based video editing software, and much more.
The VideoSIG meets the second Saturday of most months at the St. James Parish Center, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway in Petaluma. Meetings start at 1 p.m. and run until about 3 p.m.
I look forward to seeing you there.
